Last Day of January

I made it through January: my least favorite month of the year. The cold and dark has been invading my spirit as well as my bones. Running is my only salvation, the one thing my former employer cannot take from me.

Likely no one complains about the cold as much as I do, yet I am always out in it, pounding the miles. Yesterday I did my compulsory long run of 10 miles in single degree temperatures. I silently celebrate every time I make it through another winter week. So I ask you: why is someone so disciplined still unemployed?

I had what I thought (still might be?) two possibilities that I applied for this past week, and still narry an interview. I sat on the edge of my chair listening to President Obama's address Wednesday night, and his words gave me hope, for a few days. But my phone remains silent.

I do web design and writing (newsletters, ads, anything you want) and have been busy lately with some freelance projects. At least my skills remain sharp, and I still love what I do. Someone out there in blog-land, please allow me to do it.

So much until the next chapter. Maybe I'll be telling you about an interview! Let's hold that thought...

The Job Search: The Saga Continues

Well, it's been six months of unemployment...after 25 years. How I wanted a break in the action, oh, the things I'd do! As it happens, I think I've been warding off a depression of sorts. I've got resumes out everywhere, so it seems, and to many positions for which I am more than qualified. Dare I say, over qualified--and nary an interview.

So I decided to create this rolling diary of The Experience, and how I am attempting to keep the good attitude. Stay tuned to see how I make out.
